Stirling City Historical Society members return to the Gold Nugget Museum on Thursday, May 31st at 7 p.m. Their presentation is on the American buffalo and the hide hunters who slaughtered them during the period 1865 through 1884. Firearms used by the hunters will be shown. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served.

STIRLING CITY HISTORICAL SOCIETY PRESENTS
“THE LORD OF THE PLAINS”
The Gold Nugget Museum is pleased to host members of the Stirling City Historical Society on Thursday, May 31 at 7 p.m. Their presentation is on the American buffalo and the “hide hunters” who slaughtered them during the period 1865 through 1884. There will also be an exhibition of firearms used by the buffalo hunters. Hide hunters Jim Ennis, Ella Bird, and Lee Dummel will give personal accounts of their experiences.
Lee Dummel is an Old West historian, reenactor, and exhibiter of 1800s firearms. He will be joined by reenactor Mary Schaefer portraying Ella Bird, one of the era’s few female buffalo hunters. Admission is free, but donations are greatly appreciated. Refreshments will be served.
