Current Museum EventsGold Nugget Days
Gold Nugget Days are on the last full weekend in April each year and include an ever-changing menu of events, along with abiding favorites such as the the parade, Queen Contest, Donkey Derby, barbecue and more. See the Gold Nugget Days page for all the details. PARADISE POW WOW 2008
The 7th annual Paradise Pow Wow will be held on Saturday and Sunday, August 23-24 at the Gold Nugget Museum. Native American Drum, Song and Dance highlight this event as well as basket weavers, local Native Artisans, beadwork, raffles and food booths. Haunted Forest and Pumpkin Land
Years of youngsters and their parents have made the Haunted Forest and Pumpkin Land on the Museum grounds a Halloween tradition. Each year, it’s new and different. The Haunted Forest on the far side of the creek is where brave youngsters (and quite a few grownups) negotiate a dark path around, down and through the trees, coming face to face with ghouls and goblins and creepy characters.
Those who would just as soon skip the scary part are greeted by Mother Goose and a Pathway of lighted jack-o-lanterns in Pumpkin Land. Youngsters have chats with Mother Goose characters such as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, Little Bo Peep, the Queen of Hearts and Old king Cole. Entry to the Haunted Forest is $3.00; Pumpkin Land is $1.00. All visitors end up in a mini-Mardi Gras to collect their treats, both fun and tasty. Holiday Open House
Volunteers decorate the Museum for the holidays each year—magnificently! And during the holiday season the community is invited to a Sunday Open House to enjoy the decorations, music and refreshments. Each year, Santa drops in for a photo op with the children (at $5.00 a shot).
